Description :

Silvanski mod for TOAW 3.2 of "Operation Blau 1942" by Brian Topp Released with kind permission :: Axis PO-Soviet PO :: Date: May-December 1942 Location: Soviet Union Map Scale: 25km/hex Time Scale: full-week turns Unit Scale: Corps-Divisions Length: 32 turns MRPB: 4 For the general details I like to refer to Brians original scenario. The main changes in this mod are: *Some geographical adjustments to the map. *Unit colors: Soviet: Red Heer: Grey/White Luftwaffe: Grey/Blue SS: Grey/Black Rumanian: Blue/Red Hungarian: Green/Red Italian: Yellow *Force support... My interpretation of a scenario of this scale. Divisions on the Eastern front -especially German- were shifted from one HQ to another on a frequent basis, hence the decision to put all formations on Force Support. *Minor adjustments to proficiency and supply values. *The big change however is to the Axis PO. Brian had set the Axis PO to move on Moscow. My mod models the debate in OKH... the generals favored a renewed offensive on Moscow, but as we all know Hitler got what he wanted... an offensive in the south in order to satisfy his thirst for oil. This of course lead to the disastrous events at Stalingrad. The Axis PO now has a 50/50 choice between two tracks... *Changes to the Soviet PO for enhanced defense. Two Soviet reinforcement formations will appear in a different location. All others in the classic Moscow bottleneck. *The PO should provide the beginner or intermediate player with a decent challenge, also the scale and long frontline of this scenario will give rise to plenty of operational decisions. *Shock levels for Axis offensive and Soviet counteroffensive established. *Lower recon level for added fog of war. I also suggest playing this one with "Borders Off" *Reconstituted German units appear at several locations. Minor Axis and Finnish units will reconstitute in their home country. *Reconstituted Soviet units retain their Moscow 'bottleneck' entry *VPs redistributed, added some VP locations. Some important things to remember from the original scenario. -Supply levels and radius will vary with changes in the weather -Loss of some cities will affect Soviet replacements -Both sides will benefit from positive shock levels at times. -Go easy with Partisan and Brandenburg units vs the PO. Although improved since A Century of Warfare, Elmer is not fully capable of dealing with unconventional warfare. *Original scenario credits -Design and set up by Brian Topp. -Original map by Benny Wahlberg. -Original TO&Es by Tom Porto. -Basic panzer division based on notes by Brad Hunter. -German armour TO&E and production are drawn from Thomas Jentz's Panzer Truppen, volume 1 (with some necessary simplifications). -The Soviet OOB is based on FITE/SE and maps contained in The West Point Military History Series: Atlas for the Second World War, Griess, editor.
