Here is a scenario posted some 5 years ago that I have updated for ENH. It is about the French SS of the Sturmbrigade Frankreich. The scenario has been substantially reworked. Now a few books by survivors have been newly published or reprinted in a limited edition of 1 000 pieces after having been unavailable for some 40 years. More historical leader's names have been included. Weaponry has been improved and some new inits added. The map has been also improved on the basis of polish pre war map. Villages have been added. The names of different locations are now correctly spelled. In all books, whether French, English or German, about the French SS all the names are wrongly spelled. For example Dundynce insted of Dudynce, Pisarowice instead of Pisarowce... Two other scenarios portraying these fights in Galicia will follow. Enjoy! Frangois ___BAPTISM OF FIRE IN GALICIA** __German advance v Soviet Union* _____For Version 8.403 ENH* _____Design by F.Dargaud* __francois.dargaud@libertysurf.fr ** __A 25-turn, large-sized scenario. ** THE MISSION:* Your first operationnal mission in the SS seems very simple: you have to move up to the frontline to relieve Wehrmacht units on a so called quiet front.** In the next days you will attack to reduce the salient and maybe become a hero.** But for the time being you have to move through the forest to your positions.** The first bad news is that the troops (208 th ID) you have to relieve have, under terrible Soviet pressure, abandonned their positions the day before. You had a bad premonition when arriving in Wolica and seeing WH Troops emerging from the forest : now it is confirmed. You might get across some fleeing stragglers.** The Soviets know exactly what is going on : this is the second bad news, you will soon discover that the forest offers no real protection against Soviet permanent heavy shelling and Polish partisans.** Finally the last bad news is that when you come out of the forest you will see between you and your objectives vast open areas with no protection or cover.** Do not forget that there also regular Soviet troops with some tanks. They belong to a Guard Division, so be careful.** You should move the Stragglers back to Wolica.** Good luck ! Move cautiously and spare your men. *You need them for the coming planned attack. *The difficult nature of terrain will make mutual fire support between units almost impossible. **
