Description :

____OPERATION JUPITER (EAST)** ___UK assault vs. German defend* (Enhanced; player must take UK side)* _______SW of Caen, France* _______0700, July 10, 1944* ___________Turns 45* _______Scenario size: Large* IMPORTANT: 'player notes' section contains essential instructions & info* _____for playing this scenario** ____Design: Jim 'tracer' Sodano _Playtesters: Huffy, bob55, chief,* _Crazy Canuck, JEB Davis, Marduk** Briefing/Historical Background:* On the eastern half of Operation Jupiter's battlefield, 130th Brigade (of 43rd Wessex Div) and 9th Royal Tank Rgt are to advance south over the lowlands between Hill-112 and the Orne; their goal is to secure river crossings to the open (tank) country south of Caen. On their right (to the west), 129th Bgd and 7th RTR will assault the strong German positions on and around Hill-112 which overlook and threaten 130th's line of advance.** Holding the line in front of 130th Bgd are grenadiers of 22SS PzG Rgt (10SS PzD), supported by remnants of the 1SS & 12SS PzD which have fallen back from Caen. And unknown to the Brits, German losses prompted 2nd SS Pz Corps to commit their Tiger battalion: 28 tanks of 102sPz Btn arrived in St. Martin (less than 2km from Hill-112) the day before Operation Jupiter began.** The UK plan: 4th & 5th Dorsetshire Rgts are to capture Eterville & Chateau Fontaine (respectively), then the 7th Hampshire Rgt will move up between them to attack and capture the town of Maltot.** Player Notes:** -Despite great effort & losses, 129th Bgd failed to neutralize the German positions on Hill-112, so fire from that area (and also from GE units on its left flank) continued to hamper the 130th as it advanced; to simulate this there are no VH's in that area, only strong GE units with reduced point-values. Diverting units to attack those positions directly will likely result in higher UK losses, without any VHs to 'offset' the cost.** Remember that the MISSION is to grab & hold the VHs, so HEED THE 'BRIGADE BOUNDARIES' and keep all units working toward that one goal. To 'counter' any heavy or accurate fire from the flanks, consider using smoke.** -as the reinforcement hexes & 'front line' get further apart, keep in mind that Churchills can carry 10 men.** -Maltot was on the GE 'stop line', so their reserves will counter-attack in order to hold it: be ready!** ___________tracer/JimNSB 5/09** Make sure to read (& follow!) the instructions/advice in the 'Player Notes' section of the scenario-text. There's a large number of (powerful) enemy units in this scenario that need not be fought, and they can be avoided by staying within the brigade-boundaries. If you're a glutton for punishment, then by all means, go 'exploring'!
