(for SPWAW Enhanced): _______RETAKING KHARKOV** _German assault vs. USSR defend* ___(Player must choose GE side)* ________Kharkov, Ukraine* _____0800, 12 March 1943* __________Turns 30* ______Scenario size: Large** ___Design: Jim 'tracer' Sodano* ___Playtesters: chief, trip1509** Historical Background:* One month after pulling out of the city, the SS Panzer Korps once again had the task of capturing Kharkov.** After first circling the city to block the defender's withdrawl, the Korps launched its assault on Kharkov. With elements of the Das Reich division pressing in from the west, the main effort was made by kampfgruppes formed from units of Leibstandarte (LAH) division and 1SS PzRgt attacking from the north.** Waiting within Kharkov were remnants of 1st & 2nd Guards Tank Corps, along with four battered rifle divisions. But in the month they've held the city the Soviets have repaired & improved its defenses.** Note: two kampfgruppes in the actual battle (Sandig & Meyer) fought outside the area of this scenario's map.** Player Notes:* -the chain-of-command within the KGs is intact, and the cost of their leaders increased to reflect their importance; treat/protect them like 'A0' units.* -the objective flags for each KG are fairly 'historic'; I suggest following them even if playing with C&C off.* -SO outnumber GE units; ignore/avoid 'non-VH' areas to achieve victory.* -all AFV speeds have been cut by 1/4 to portray the semi-winter conditions .* -a few (3-4) of the SS squads have 'recon' status.* -limited smoke & OB-arty ammo.** ** ** _____________tracer/JimNSB 6\10**
