Multiplayer, more detailed planets, an expanded tech tree and much more coming in this new expansion

Matrix Games and Ntronium Games (www.ntronium.com) are thrilled to announce Armada 2526: Supernova, the first expansion for their acclaimed 4x turn-based strategy/real time tactical blend Armada 2526! To mark the announcement of the upcoming expansion, a new trailer and a pack of screenshots have been released. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get more Armada 2526: Supernova videos as soon as they become available!

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “There are so many exciting new features packed into Armada 2526: Supernova. This expansion is about as dense with rich new gameplay as a neutron star, including the ability to square off against friends via multiplayer! Here you have a 4X space strategy game for the ages, don’t miss it!”

Armada 2526: Supernova gives you 4X more. More to explore, more to exploit, more to exterminate and expands you’re gaming horizons by letting you challenge your friends via LAN or PBEM play. Read on for more feature information!

There are new star and planet types to discover, and more than 30 special features to make each star system distinctive. You may encounter tachyon storms, psychic plants, primitives or find abandoned alien technology that advances your own research. Two new races, with their own ships and special characteristics, await your discovery. Befriend them, play as them, or exterminate them as you wish.

A new trade system lets you construct networks to trade valuable commodities between the stars, both between your own worlds, and with other players. Alien relics, rare minerals, tourists, or even natural anti-matter, your freighters carry them all. Choke an enemy with trade embargoes, or blockade their planets with stealth ships operating behind the lines. But trade and tourism bring less welcome visitors too. The new espionage system lets you plant spies to gather information or steal technological secrets, or drop special forces that can sabotage defenses before an attack.

Fifty new technologies open up new strategies and tactics. Confound your enemies with hard to detect stealth ships, jam their missiles with electronic warfare, build fighter stations to defend your planets, and blitz defenses with stormtroopers. Research Gaia to make everyone happy, or grind them under your heel with a variety of more powerful warships and upgrades weapons.

Armada’s simultaneous order system makes it ideal game for multi-player action. Now you can crush your friends playing over LAN (local area networks) or PBEM (play by email).

Get more information on Armada 2526: Supernova from its official product page and be sure to check out the new trailer and screenshots!

Is there a bundle pack in the works? I bought my original Amada 2526 from Impulse so I think I'd need to get both at Matrix to get the expansion.

The trailer and screens look great!

Is this going to be a free expansion for those like me that already have the original? Or is this to be a paid upgrade? Just curious... love the game... would like to see more customization though, like the ability to modify all race stats, create your own race characteristics w/o having to modify files, through some form of GUI. Also, would like to be able to tweak my own ship mods, i.e develop tech not already in the game.... and of course, i know theres another matrix game on here with a star trek mod, would love to be able to do that with this game too..... btw, i have more games from matrix than all other software publishers combined... keep up the great work!

This is a paid expansion - we haven't made a decision on bundling yet. If you purchased Armada 2526 elsewhere, you can still buy the expansion from us and it should work fine.

Regards,

- Erik

None announced yet. However, Matrix generally doesn't officially announce a new game unless/until it's expected to be released in the fairly near future, usually within a couple months.

So if I had to guess, I'd say we're looking at the expansion coming out sometime in April or so. But don't quote me on that!

Is there any chance that we'll be able to manually set the resolution? The work-around is annoying and doesn't solve my problem on my laptop.

Basically, my res is pretty low - 1280x800 - so some of the text at the top of windows overlaps other windows or is cut off. This also happens when I output it to my LCD, which is my main way of playing. On that, it's 1360x768. So the only way for me to fix this is to change my desktop res to 1600x900 to make the font slightly smaller. This doesn't work on my laptop of course, as it's fixed at 1280.

I did some forum searches to no avail. I want to further support Matrix and the devs, but not being able to easily switch your resolution in game is unacceptable in this day and age.
