Matrix Games is proud to announce it has won six awards at the GrogHeads (www.grogheads.com) 2012 Readers’ Choice Game of the Year Awards; the website community voted for the best wargames in different categories. Below is a summary of all awards assigned to Matrix Games releases.

Digital Game of the Year
With a huge plethora of over forty titles to judge, GrogHeads staff admitted it was difficult to chose the best three. The final choice was Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear which gained first place! Third place went to Panzer Korps: Afrika Korps.

Digital Tactical Game of the Year
In this category Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear pulled a solid first place.

Digital Strategic Wargame of the Year
The top three digital strategic wargames of 2012 were all Matrix Games productions.
Commander: The Great War was the most voted by the users, gaining the first place.
Panzer Korps: Afrika Korps drew strong second place voting. Third place was the highly acclaimed Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue by VR Designs, which won also a rare Order of the Hex award for its historical realism that was almost paradoxically user friendly.

Matrix Games would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all developers for earning these important awards: Western Civilization Software , Flashback Games, The Lordz Game Studios, and VR Designs .

I love Conflict of Heroes and think the PC game version is a loving tribute to the boardgame. Very well supported in terms of gameplay by the technical team. AKA ericbabe.

BUT the downloading system is terrible and there is never anyone in the multiplayer lobby.

How can the number one digital game require crazy fiddliness to download and have no players?

PS I did vote for it!

Hi Fentum,

Any multiplayer lobby short of a game that sells hundreds of thousands of copies is likely to be empty most of the time. That's why we provide tools in terms of the in-game forum and the forum here to setup games and agree on times to play with others. Many communities have agreed times on weekends when players login, that can help as well.

As far as the download system, there are no issues there as far as I am aware. Can you elaborate?

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks Erik,

Ericbabe is helping me out to try to sort out issues with Slitherine log ins.

Don't get me wrong here... CoH on PC is excellent and the support from ericbabe et al is great. It's just the peripheral systems stuff is not so good. Like three hour downloads for every update rather than incremental patches. And relatively poor chat functions. Empty lobbies for such a good game are disappointing. Anything to make it easier to get to the actual game would be very welcome.

Regards,

Fentum

Hi Fentum,

I'm not sure what you mean about poor chat? It has worked well for me in all my multiplayer games.

I just saw your post about download times and issues and posted a response here, sorry for the late reply:

Thank you for supporting COH.
