Yes, it can be invaded. Even though it is big desert, with lots of Partisan activities, so it is surely no fun to go in and stay there...

Turn 47

15. September 1942

Another marvelous turn.
My troops approach Stalingrad and destroy a large number of enemy units.
The Red Army is currently not able to stop me.

I have made a decision. Von Kuchler will not march to the north.
I will refresh and upgrade my units, and some will be brought to over strength.
The Luftwaffe will support the Finns, and destroying one or two units should be enough help for them.
But the biggest part of the Army Group North will be transferred to France.

There are not many Soviet units around Wjasma, so I ordered my units to attack.
And they experience a quite nasty surprise: the enemy has introduced Infantry Weapons Level 3!
I feel lucky that the troops around Stalingrad did not have this.

Kaluga and Tula have been conquered.
This will make 1943 much easier.

Please remember I destroyed the Soviet HQ in Turn 45 that was responsible for the supply of all Soviet troops in the west of Stalingrad. No HQ, less supply.
This is why I was able to destroy these units quickly.
My troops suffer higher losses than in in previous battles.
Usually I send my bombers first and finish the badly damaged enemy off with ground units.
But the Luftwaffe was badly damaged in Turn 45 and 46, so I needed to refresh it.
I want to take Stalingrad before the Rasputiza starts, so I need to be quick and could not wait on the Luftwaffe.

I think I will attack Tikhoretsk in Turn 49.

I am pretty sure the AI will operate the remaining air units back to the UK in Turn 48.

I have been asked an interesting question by a forum member.
Playing the game in a kind of historical mode, I cannot know that there will be an Allied invasion in North Africa. This actually caught the OKW by surprise, and theoretically it should catch me by surprise.
I will send the Regia Marina back to Italy and let the AI conduct its invasion... if it decides to do so.
This is not Multiplayer.. it is just a Beta AAR.

Let us see what happens.

This will help me a lot in Western Europe.

Turn 48 (AI)

22. September 1942

Rainfalls start... the first sign of the Rasputiza.
The Soviet High Command will be happy about this.

It will take time to bring all units to maximum strength... and also I need to upgrade the tanks.

Maybe I can take Wjasma before year's end.

At least I have good weather in the south.

Turn 49 - FINAL TURN

3. Oktober 1942

Stalingrad has been conquered by the XXXXVII. Panzerkorps, and most enemy units around the city are destroyed.
I do not expect a counterattack.

Also my operations in the Levant came to a successful end.

This will make the defense of Western Europe much easier.

The loss of the mechanized unit is a severe blow to the Soviets.
They will not be able to defeat the Finns.

Heeresgruppe Nord will be transferred to the west.
This is why I eqipped them with Anti Air Level 2.

My old attack plan (Unternehmen Hurrikan) will start in spring 1943.
Heeresgruppe Süd has four Panzerkorps and two Panzergrenadierkorps at the moment.
I will operate a couple of them to Tula, accompanied by some bombers.
This should be enough to take Moskau until Summer 1943.

Eight attacks were necessary to destroy the defenders of Stalingrad.

This is important for my further operations in the Kaukasus.
Noworossiysk will have a railway connection to Berlin.

I will transport the Afrika Korps to Western Europe.
The artillery will be operated to Tula.
The remaining Italian forces will march to Baghdad and free Iraq.

The Panzerkorps Afrika has seen a lot of action.

Page 2

I want to have Turkey on my side as soon as possible.

Dann mal Prost!

This is the final post of this AAR.
I have received new orders from Generalfeldmarschall von Cater:
prepare to start testing the Multiplayer feature.
I will need to install a new version on my PC, and my saves will no longer be compatible.

I still use an old Beta version, and a lot has changed since then.
And today is the release date, so it is the right time to end this Beta AAR.

I hope you all enjoyed it... I did for sure.

Hi HvS,

thank you again for the AAR. I found a lot interesting hints in it that I will try to replicate in my games.
I look forward to see a multiplayer AAR in the future.

best regards,

Likewise many thanks HvS.....like many I checked your updates daily and enjoyed the comments and reasons behind your moves.
I noted your caution, being aware of your reluctance to expose yourself to the Russian juggernaut.

Meant that I was slightly disappointed as I wanted to see the ai give a beating to a good player.....and your/Hubert's posts made me think this would happen---but you were too good.
Once more thanks for the time and effort- made me look forward to today

Hi apec!

You're welcome!
I think there will be a MP AAR.
But it is not yet decided who will play it and which campaign.

Hi Daniele!

Thank you very much.. hopefully some of my ideas will help you.

Hi GavCol!

Thank you very much.
Please keep in mind that I played with an early Beta Version.
Hubert has changed a lot since then, and I think battling the AI is more difficult now.

Hi Josh!

Tank you very much.

Hi Boroda1959!

Thanks.. I hope you are happy with your purchase.

Hi taffjones!

Thank you.
I has not been decided who will do the MP AAR.
If there are other volunteers, I might leave it up to them.

Hi Templer!

Thank you.
I translation into German will fore sure not happen.
The most images explain themselves, and it was already an awful amount up work.. between 80 and 100 hours.
