Following a suggestion from Capn D I have started work on an html template for briefings.

The idea behind this is that if you have relatively little knowledge about html you can use this package to create your own briefings.

It uses Cascading Style Sheets but you dont need to know anything about CSS to use it, CSS just does all the work for you really, you just add the text you want.

Using this template you should be able to produce passable briefings with very little knowledge of html and using as few as four html tags: <h1> <h2> <h3> and <p>

Using these four tags you can be up and running straight away, if you know a bit more html then you will be able to use the package more flexibly, but you can get away with just the basics.

Take a look at the work so far and let me know what you think.
It is quite "graphic intensive" so the page takes a while to load.

The package should be ready for release in the next day or so.

embis,

It looks great! I have one suggestion. Can you space out the page links (briefing, OOB, map) and also add them to the other pages for easy navigation?

Thanks.

You can find the original Briefing templates under the follwing directories of the FPG game folder:

"\Briefing0" = NATO briefing
"\Briefing1" = WP briefing

They´re CSS driven and easy to fill out with basic HTML knowledge.

Marc,

You can only get them after starting a scenario in 103. I was looking for a blank that could be put in a folder to generate briefings for new scenarios. embis has a good start on something that will be easy to do from the ground up other then modding an existing one.

Done a bit more work on these, still not quite finished, a few wrinkles to iron out, but nearly there, have a look at:

We could put the official template in the next patch.

I have finished the templates, I darent post them publicaly on my webspace because the pages alone are pushing me to the limits of my bandwidth...I have had something like 300 hits!!..difficult to believe when so few people have read the posting. I think its some of the graphic files causing the problem, they are pretty hefty.

So, if you want to download the files email me and I will send you the url. That way I can keep some control over the number of downloads....I think that should work.

You can still view the files from the following url, I have editted them removing the big background images. The zip file does contain the original background images.

Would it be possible for someone who remembers this to supply the relevant templates and tutorials? The biss.demon site is down and I suspect has been down for years.
