I have a kinda strange problem. It is good (for me) but I strongly suspect not so good for the game.
I downloaded the Lahman 5.2 database and created a league beginning in 1930 with twelve teams. I drafted from the available players (some manual, some auto).
Anyway, I got a pitcher named Biff Wysong '30 who, after spring training, was put on my minor league team. His first two games in the minors were no hitters so I promoted him, and his first game in the majors was a no-no. I suspect that something is wrong and while I would love to have him continue to throw no-hitters, I probably need to get the problem fixed. If he keeps this up, I can imagine what type of contract he will want next year.

I thought of Sidd Finch when I saw the name Biff. I had just finished reading the SI article about Finch from 1985. Actually, I believe Wysong is the grandfather of that kid in the movie "Rookie of the Year".

to golden: what are this guy's ratings?

Wow, that was a strange issue. There was actually a freaky overflow error. I just verfied and fixed it in PS 2007. I can't even find any other players that exhibit this error :)

Anyway, I imported 1930 in PureSim 2007, locked Wysong in the Major League rotation and simmed a few weeks. Take a look at his stats :)

Thanks for the reply, puresimmer. I will be purchasing the PureSim2007 as soon as you get it ready. Looking forward to many more seasons.
I kinda hate to give old Biff up now that I know he's "fixed" but with the controversy over "unknown substances" going around, I think its best.
By the way I got my info on how I obtained Biff wrong. He was drafted in the 38th round by the St. Louis Browns team that I created. I traded Hank Deberry for him. He had not pitched a game for St. Louis when I got him (just good manager's intuition, I guess).
For the record his ratings are: Contact 5, Power 6 , Eye 7, Speed 35, Range 60, Arm 72, Hands 61, Potential 18!!!, Stuff 5, Velocity 5, Control 5, Endurance 40, Hold 80. He is 25 yrs old (in 1930) born in Clarksville, OH. Bats left, throws left. 1 yr contract for $3,700.00 (1930's money)
I started him in a third game and he went 7 more no-no innings before the computer lifted him for a ph in a 0-0 game.
