I'm sorry to bring this up again. And I've tried to just live with it and go on. But, it's bugging the hell out of me! I'm playing a 1951 replay season and I'm over a month into the season and the pitchers are just monster hitters! Constantly getting two to three hits a game and if they are not getting a hit, they walk. Using the 1-10 scale, how can all 1 rated hitting pitchers be hitting anywhere from .350 to .600? So, is the pitchers hitting in the game figured differently than the rest of the hitters? I assume it must be. Just ranting and hoping this gets fixed. I LOVE the game and really have no complaints other than this one. Thanks, Shaun!

Are you positive that it is across the board or are you looking at some isolated incidents?

Play out the whole season and then have a look. Remember, pitchers are hugely influenced by statistical variation given their limited number of AB's. I bet in the end they'll look fine.

Shaun,

I just exported my results after my 1939 season in my historical career that started in 1920.  The league was created with version 1 and 1939 was run with 1.25.

I created batting averages by position in a pivot table.  For all pitchers in that season they hit .209 with an OBP of 261.  The league average is 283.  I can send you the data if you want.

I can see the change when the pitchers batting was tweaked.  In 1935 they hit 235 and in 1936 they hit 203.

Shaun, as I said I'm about a month and a half into the season but EVERY game both pitchers are getting 2 to 3 hits a game and if they're not hitting, they're walking. I am using the latest beta.

Interesting problem. In my association, the pitcher might get one hit every now and then, but nothing like 2 or 3 per game. More get walks than get hits. No more walks than other hitters with similar eye ratings.

Kentcol, I've seen occasional hits by pitchers, and pitchers drawing walks.  Stuff happens.  I don't think it's a bug.  As Shaun said, it averages out over time.

I'm a month into my fictional league.  Here are the batting averages for my 5 starting pitchers (the only ones with enough AB's to qualify for any sort of analysis)

1) .056
2) .154
3) .000
4) .200
5) .200

Seems ok to me so far.

PadresFan,

Is that in a fictional or historical career?  Perhaps the issue might be in historical career.  A season batting average of 200 for all pitchers does seem high to me as I have shown in my 1939 historical season.
