Been browsing the device data and comparing them to the real specs (naweaps site).

For example

#036 12in/45 Mk 5 Gun
http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_12-45_mk5.htm

Penetration:
WPO: 500 mm
Navweaps: 422mm@6k yards, 310mm@9k yards, 251mm@12k yards (data for Harvey plates)

Another example would be Japanese/British 12in/40 gun (The one been used during the RJW on Mikasa, Fuji, Shikishima)
http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNJAP_12-40_EOC.htm

The closest WPO device would be
#182 12in/40 M1895 Gun (?)

Penetration
WPO: 500 mm
Navweaps: 305mm @4800 yards for British gun. Note on Japanese gun - "As far as can be determined, Japanese 12-inch (30.5 cm) shells did not penetrate any Russian armor thicker than about 6 inches (15.2 cm). At the Battle of the Yellow Sea (10 August Battle or Battle of Shantung), the Japanese fired 279 AP of which at least 10 hit Russian armor, mainly turrets, and not one penetrated. At Tsushima (Battle of the Japan Sea), the Russian Battleship Orel took a hit on her 5.75-inch (15.8 cm) belt from a 12 inch (30.5 cm) shell - type unknown - which failed to penetrate"

The same true almost for all 12in naval guns.

Isn't the penetration value too optimistic or it is again another WPO engine feature?

All WitP/WPO penetration data is for point-blank, i.e. ZERO yards.

hmm.. that make sence, but it seems that penetration value is hardly aproximated in WPO comparing them to RL specs.

Another expample:

#079 12in/45 Mk XIII Gun
Penetration
WPO 500mm
Navweaps: 406mm@ 0yards
http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_12-45_mk13.htm

Is that differnce intentional or it has no real effect?
