I installed the beta release version 1.38 of PureSim Baseball 2007. When I attempted to launch the program, I got an error message stating "There is an error with your serial number as entered. Please contact support@matrixgames.com for assistance."

Matrix responded: "Please take note that you have installed a BETA version. You will need to uninstall Beta 1.38, reboot, Reinstall the 1.0 release (or whatever full version you have) then reboot. You will be able to play your original game
then and the beta when it is no longer a beta."

I uninstalled 1.38, rebooted, reinstalled 1.0 and 1.20 (the latest supported version). When I attempt to launch now, I get a run-time error 374 "Failed to activate control 'VB.UserControl."

Playing around with this a little more, I uninstalled PureSim 2007 (again), then manually deleted all of the crap the uninstall left behind, including the "Matrix Games" folder. I then re-installed version 1.0, and was able to launch the program. I then re-installed the 1.20 patch, and once again was able to launch.

So I have no idea what the problem was, but it appears to be fixed now.
