I knew this thread would be somewhere on these forums... It's probably doing me some good to get out of SPWAW and have a look around ;) I also vote for a tweaking of the colours to provide greater contrast for the text. Perhaps if the light and dark grey backgrounds were closer to each other, a text colour that nicely contrasts both would be easier to find. Or something... Edited to add: Ooh, while I'm here I'll also cast a vote for increasing the number of threads listed on a page from 25 to around 50. This will help keep recent threads on the front page of the higher traffic forums. Actually, since this might annoy the lower traffic forums, is it possible to do this for only the high traffic ones? Yes, the dark grey backgrounds were too dark. Looks much better now. Blue or grey, I'll guess we'll soon get used to whatever is chosen. Scot Stephenson

Paul, My opinion is that the new design is pretty horrible. Dark and depressing compared to the old design :(

Hmmmm....I tend to agree.... Thank God for the blue stripe at the top. Just from a pure design standpoint there is so much black and white here that anything with color looks out of place...and who is the "magical soldier" making a rifle levitate in the logo...I would lose that fast.. Don't like it.....sorry... :( You guys do such a great job building and supporting games....this design distracts from that imho. Joe Osborne

I like the new look and feel, very clean. A step up from the bright blue.. Of course, I used to build 16bit Windows Apps. :D :D :D :D

the colors are really difficult, the text doesn't contrast with the background very well at all!

Tell me if I'm right:it makes me think abt the indeed famous photo of the soldier killed during Spanish Civil War(i dont remember which side he was fighting for). If so,let me say we need a real BIG phantasy to figure the logo as a copy of that photo... web page BTW:is it me or Image feature of the UBB code it's nopt working? May I ask that you check your monitors settings. Over here at the graphics team we work with calibrated monitors (following international ICC standards) and I can assure you that the text and the background have a good contrast and don´t merge or so. It was maybe difficult with the darker grey used before, but that has been changed. [ June 08, 2001: Message edited by: GS_Marcks ]

Oh, I think I've seen it before...it's just the rendering here that looks strange...you lose the effect of him falling from a gunshot wound due to the fact you cannot see the lower torso...the image as rendered just looks like a soldier standing there levitating a rifle.....just my meager opinion :) Joe Osborne

I like the new 'look' It's clean. The gamma on my monitor is dark - I know that I need to fix it, but the contrast is fine by me - and my eyesight is far from perfect! -brent [ June 08, 2001: Message edited by: brent_2 ]
