I have been trying to edit a map that I made for a scenario. I used the TOAW editor menu to save the map to a .bmp file, but when I try to load it into a graphics editor program to tweak some of the graphics, I get a 'not a valid .bmp file' message. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Or better yet - how to do it properly.

You can edit the individual terrain tiles. These you will find in the graphics folder. Then -- unless you want to modify your whole program -- create a folder in graphics with the same name as that of your scenario and put the modified tiles in there. Use the original name for the tiles, and they should pop up when you open the named scenario.

At any rate, that's what I do, and I modify tiles all the time.

Thank you Colin. I guess I misunderstood the purpose of the save map to bmp button in the editor. Still dont know what its for, but editing the tiles will work just fine for me.

Saving the map can be useful for illustrating an AAR, or for planning.
