This is the first time it's happened for me and I'll see if it happens again in the future.

Here's the last few entries in the message log:

As soon as the message popped up in-game saying that my 4 F-16Cs ran out of fuel & crashed (got the crash sound too), Vista was kind enough to notify me that the game had stopped running.

NK, if you can repeat the error a savegame would be very useful. Thanks.

My game dosn't crash but a very minor detail is that in the "Message Log" window the message is: "1 friendly EA-6B Prowler of group (AFA) has been shot down." when the plane crashed because it ran out of fuel.
