Or maybe Paris 1968 (40th anniversay)?

Status: offline 		I'm almost positive not May 1968.  For starters the architecture doesn't look right.  I think you're right.  Hungary, 1956, Hungarian revolution.  The man is quite obviously expressing his desperation and his defiance.

Status: offline 		Well, as for the architecture... that could be Paris. But mine was a wild thought. We can see a canon (from a tank or whatever) and I suspect there were no tanks during May 1968 in Paris. Only cops and barricades.

Oh, the guy with a white helmet is a cop. And it seems he is on the "losing side". I guess it has to be Hungary (or maybe Prague, who knows).

Status: offline 		The picture is well-known, but I can't place it. I'm thinking it's probably Prague, since that's a much more symbolic gesture in the picture than the heavy fighting that took place in Budapest in 1956 (notice that none of the buildings are ruined).
