Hello all - I recently purchased Advanced Tactics World War II and am trying to like it. Is there any way you choose historical sides to play when you set up a battle or does the computer just pick random weird sides like "The Holy League" - I thought this was supposed to be WWII? What gives?

The random games have odd country names. If you want real combatants you have to play the scenarios.

You can also rename your nations in Random games. So that might help.

You have to edit the game after setting up, but that´s not easy.
The editor is mighty, but not that easy to use.
You´ll probably need some time to learn it. It´s definitely worth to spend the time.

Editing Regime names is pretty simple.

1. make random game

2. You can look at the mini-map and regime locations on Main screen (don't start game though).

3. Select Edit

4. On edit screen choose Regime,

5. On regime page select Regime and then click on edit name

6. You can also change counter colors here.

7. Edit both regime names.

There is a lot more you can do, but this is pretty simple intro to the editor.

8. When you're done, click on Return to Main in upper left.

9. Start game!

Rick

The Editor is very flexible. I have no computer knowledge but there are at least 50 settings to let you easily do things like change the AI's units sizes, length of front covered, range of air and naval units, composition of forces (armor, artillery, infantry percentages) and a whole bunch of things that enhance game play. Use the Editor, especially the function of settings for the AI. It is kind of peculiar at first, but after you learn it it is easily used.

Hey miral,

Were you going to post your AI mod findings? I think it would be very interesting to see what you have discovered.

Post it in the Mods section.

Thanks.
