Just curious to find out what turn length is being used and how it is working out.

I am using one day turns, even in the long campaign because I am not sure I want 2 or more days between giving orders. The situation can change rapidly from one day to the next.

Is anyone using the 7 day pulse in the long campaign? If so what are your thoughts on 7 versus 1 day.

I use one day turns in the long campaign. I tried a 7 day turn once, but I couldn't react to enemy moves and I got a little frustrated and went back to one day turns.

Thats what I am afraid of. For now I will stick with one day turns.

Personally, I'd like to see an option to reduce the turn length to 12 hours or even 6 hours so that you get more chance to react to sightings.

If youre looking to speed things up a bit, try continuous play with 1 day turns....

You can then stop the game and it will stop for the next orders phase. This can help get through some of the slower times at the beginning of the grand campaign while base building.

That what I was fishing for, I just couldn't find the words. I'll give it a try.

Thank you

I am using the 1 day turns also because I like to control
everything in the game. Longer is spreading my order
modes out too far. I haven't tried it yet but I think (C)
continuous would go maybe hour by hour till you stopped
it for orders. That would break it down even shorter if
need be.

I did try it, it does not go hour by hour, if you hit F9 to interrupt for order entry after the first hour it still won't let you enter orders until the rest of the 24 hours have passed. This is a step backwards from Grigsby's old War in the South Pacific which did allow hourly entry of orders.

I use 1 day turns for single player games and 2 day turns for PBEM. I like to control everything during single player and it puts me on even ground with the AI which is much better at overall coordination and reaction. With the PBEM the 2 day turns keep things flowing while still being controlable.

Kid and I are using 2 day turns in our PBEM and we are about 240 days into it now its quite manageable and as said keeps the game flowing

Thanks for all of the input. It would be nice if the F9 interrupt would allow hour by hour control, but one day increments are working fine for me now.

Increasing to 2 day pulses for PBEM makes sense for making the long campaign more manageable.
