So far nothing unusual, except a hard time for Axis subs. Unsual situation in Rumania, as the Red Army invaded in Winter 1940. Russian WR down again, still low production for a while...

Short update - We're into 1941 and after I botched this one by allowing Armorhero to invade England in Spring 1940 it is fighting for survival time at the gates of Cairo.

Armorhero got a bit lucky hitting the lone Infantry by an autohit which left Enland defenseless. Now the Wallies are barely keeping up repairing damaged units while Germany piles up units along the Russian Front. Not sure what to make of the Japanese - they have not attacked China yet, their CVs lurking close to Hawaii. No sign of a Russia double attack either.

The only good thing appears to be a solid double wall of Russian Units preventing a Panzer blitz should Armorhero attack Russia in Spring. Not a good sign to be left hoping for a strong Russia in GG 4.040

In Summer 1941 The Germans attacked Russia, not getting beyond the Baltics, Romania and E. Poland due to solid defense in the back regions. Meanwhile Japan hacks China into peaces, good to see that instead of the Russia double-team... 6 CVs will strike soon, target unknown. Axis grip on middle East tightenes after Cairo fell and Syria and Iraq changed sides. The African adventure was stopped though by Canadians. Still overall a poor situation for the Allies, unless the US PM goes to 2 soon.

It is Spring 1942, and while Russia slowly retreats bying time Japan has launched its strike on US W.coast. However all 5 CAGs are damaged in the attack, yielding one CV sunk and one damaged. The US fleets in Hawaii and San Francisco pursue the retreating Japanese CVs which are left without air cover. Due to BB escorts sacrificing themselves only 2 CVs plus 2 BBs are lost while 3 CVs escape. Still Japan has lost its CAGs for 2 turns which will allow the Allies a quicker comeback than usual.

In Summer 1942 Japan receives the first defeat in Australia, loosing its invasion force completely. After invasions of E. India and Java both failed, Japan seems to have reached the turning point. Just about time, as the Axis score went down to 81 from 83 (AV!). Will the Germans be able to grab the extra acre in Russia? Stalin sends all hands out to prevent this from happening.

Fall 1942 - After Germany could not expand Japan grabbed all Islands it could get a grip on, including New Zealand, extending the Axis score to 84. Here came the Chinese to the rescue, being supplied by Russia they recaptured important regions, even threatening the coastal resources Japan still owns.

The Axis score went down to 80, but most importantly the Japanese Fleet was further reduced in a crucial early Carrier attack by the new built CVs rushing at flank speed across the Pacific. With 2 CVs, 2 BBs and 1 DD left Japan seems contained as 5 U.S. CVs will take charge of the Seas next turn.

Just barely I think I evaded Auto victory. Now comes the hard part, driving the Axis back...

Winter 1943 - After the Axis got beyond AV for a third time (85) another repulse pushed the Axis back, this time for good. The U.S. Navy cut the Japanese supply lines in Asia and now Japan is sitting isolated without its last naval vessels which anchor in South Asia with empty fuel bunkers.

Stand off in Russia continues. Who will attack first?

Spring 1943 - Germany strikes! However the huge battle in Stalingrad causes even losses, and the Red Army holds well. Further reinforcements are brought in to continue the attrition which at the current rate will hurt Germany more.

Over to the Pacific where the Allied blockade was tightened and those two CVs in Singapore harbour were hit. Japan's production dow to 8. US factories surpass Axis production.

Summer 1943 - The Axis assault on Stalingrad continues, coupled with an attack on Leningrad. Both fail causing high casualties on both sides.

A significant defeat for Japan in China, their resource centers are still cut off.

Fall 1943 - the third round in Stalingrad, I have rarely seen such prolonged battles with both sides not giving in. After a long time, Scotland is liberated. Allied landing forces came from Iceland but are in danger of counterattack and supply lanes are threatened by several Uboats.

Japan is now fully isolated from Asia after they just established a land link to SE Asia through China and promptly pushed into E. India. Those 16 resources were the last they shall ever receive...

Winter 1944 saw mostly troop movements as England/Scotland were reinforced and Russian trenches were dug even deeper. In Spring 1944 the Axis kicked the Wallies out of Scotland again

The sub menace has been dealt with, still Allied supply lanes are disrupted. Japan continues to live from its 2 resources despite several kamikaze attacks attempting to break the blockade.

Aiming for the decisive blow the Wehrmacht encircled Stalingrad but thanks to an airborne supply drop the pocket was reconnected to the supply lines and the Axis forces themselves are now cut off. Most of the encircled Axis units should be mopped up next turn...

Winter 1946 - Despite advances the Allies could not overcome Germany in time. Japan was already reduced to the main land and a few provinces in China, waiting for the A-Bomb to be dropped once Germany would fall. Thus a clear victory for Armorhero, congratulations!

Overall I must attribute my defeat largely to having paid too little attention to the following "rule":

Thou shalt defend Buckingham Pallace at all cost

I've seen the an AAR like this with a really surprising ending:

The Buckingham Palace seems to be a usual target for the Axis in late 1945/1946...
