I found Wild Bill's post on this topic very useful, thank you very much. Now I have a special situation that I am trying to model, in a scenario that i am "refurbishing". Supposing that one wants to enter a platoon of infantry carried by trucks as reinforcements at the edge of the map. Question number 1: if the infantry is set up loaded on the trucks, do you have to set identical waypoints for it and the trucks carrying it, or is it enough to give the trucks waypoints? Question number 2: supposing I want the trucks to take the infantry to a certain spot, then unload the infantry, followed by the infantry assaulting an objective on foot and the trucks either staying out of sight or even exiting the map through the withdrawal hex, is there any way to do this using waypoints or other devices available? Question number 3: do different transport arrangements (Halftracks, tanks) behave in the same way as trucks? Question number 4: is the behavior different according to the scenario type (advance/meeting engagement/assault/defence/delay)? In the previous versions of the scenario I did not assign waypoints to reinforcements with the exception of one group that had to negotiate a particularly tortuous route. I found that the trucks would take the infantry towards the objectives, unload them at a suitable spot and then generally head for the withdrawal hex. I was not unhappy with this, but I want more control over how the AI co-ordinates the attacks. Help on these questions would be much appreciated. ------------------ Fabs [This message has been edited by Fabs (edited November 01, 2000).]

You are most welcome, my friend. Waypoints... I'll answer what I know, Fabs... 1. Not sure but I put infantry in vehicles, then set waypoints for vehicles and the same formation objective for both. This should work with all transport. Be sure your last waypoint is the same as the formations' objectives. 2. Neat trick, but I have never been able to do it. The trucks are programmed usually to unload out of danger and move back. I don't know if waypoints will overcome this or not. Not so, however, with AFVs and HTs. They continue on with infantry on board till attacked. I've never tried setting different waypoints and objectives for them. My gut guess is that it would not work. YOu might set up a small test scenario, platoon of trucks and infantry and see. I may do that. 3. I answered that one in #2. 4. Yes, it does. Defenders usually either move to objectives to protect them UNLESS you set computer control and reaction turns to 99. In meeting engagements, everybody moves, except some artillery I hope this helped a bit. The best way to know how these work is to spend one day just setting up situations and testing. Good questions, Fab...WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Thanks, Wild Bill, I'll use my scenario "refurbishment" as the test bed. ------------------ Fabs

Thanks for asking about that, Fabs! I've been wondering about those same things myself, especially #2. It would be really neat to have troops get off of a truck and go about their business. Don
