If each race had a knack for research in a specific area that would add a small bonus to a research facility, of that type, it would add a new dimension to the game. For example, lets say race A had a knack for Weapons research. If you had, lets say 10 population, of race A on a planet with a Weapons research facility that facility would get a 10% bonus to research. If this were the case, you would need to move your conquered aliens to the best planets for research instead of trying to kill them off all the time.

Maybe some races could add similar military, production, trade and taxes bonuses too.

Sre yo could have one race that excels at Admin so you would get a tax bonus.

Good idea but this will not be enough for the Teyes, they are the tribbles of Armada.  They are only useful for cannon fodder and that requires marines to require population to build.

The Teyes would be a lot better if you modified the max population of a world based on the race.

For instance if the Teyes could reach a planet population of 120 vs. 80 for the Hoon Yon, they actually have some real advantage to breeding like Tribbles.
