Will this mod only work with a new game, or will it also work with an on going game?

What is the deal??? Seriously, aside from subs always getting a crack at the hunters...so what? Not like they ever get to get another vs the attackers. Too early to say ASW is borked Joe. Looks better than it ever was did thus far.
