And just when you think that forcing a sub to surface is a good thing, it flushes its tubes one final time and manages to take 2 ships with it! That was a nice trade-off from my perspective though.

Again, this is a mod, but no devices were changed, nor were the submarines changed in any way.

Nice to know a sub can take out more than 1 ship in an attack

One of my ASW TF's forced a sub to the surface, and the sub promptly began hitting my ships with both torpedoes and deck gun shells.  They were only minesweepers and SC types, so they didn't have much in the way of guns, and after losing an SC and having the others get shelled, the sub managed to sneak off in the confusion.

It would be cool if you could pull up a list of your "ace" sub boat captains. Even cooler if each ship has a "battle history" menu you could see which surface battles it has fought in as the war goes on. Heck you could apply this to all sorts of things, land units, land commanders. Perhaps even the map would record sea battles fought, by keeping the little crossed sabers on the map and when you moused over the hex it would show the date and the battle results. Have it where you could turn in on and off. I am sure it is one of those cool things that would require a lot of code writing, but it would be cool.

In my upcoming campaign with NYGIANTS, I intend to keep a log of individual SS, attacks, kills, damage, etc...

Will be fun to see which Japanese SS do what.  (Expect them all to sink of course...)

Unfortunately for me, in a battle with a BB, AV, and a real DD, poor I-165 will not be able to make a repeat performance. However, that one sub took down a lot of tonnage in the 2 weeks it was deployed. Basically, it got 4 AKs, 1 BB and 1 AV before its demise. I had it positioned well in a trade route, another shall take over its patrol zone.

I have a question about this.  Note in the description

DMS Bergamot cannot reach attack position over SSI-165
SSI-165 is forced to surface!

I see this all the time, where an ASW craft cannot gain attack position, yet still scores hits.  I know there was a spread to the charge pattern, but how is this explained?  Just curious
