Hi all,
a noob question.
Some BTR LW planes have the ability to change weaponry: rockets or guns.
If I select guns I can see that the planes also carry extra fuel depots. If I select rockets they carry no extra fuel.
So, the question is simple: Do the planes with rockets have less flying time because lack of extra fuel(in no combat time, I know that the extra fuel is lost in combat)?
Do you change all your planes to carry these weapons (guns and or rockets), or you keep fighters without extra weapons (if rockets affect extra fuel it makes sense for me because fighters without rockets will have longer flying time for patroling or redirect them).

Thanks in advance and regards.

Yes, planes with rockets have less time on target. This means the chances of a rocket attack are less, but when they happen they can be devastating.

The planes lose maneuverability when you equip them with extra guns or rockets. If fighters extra equipment encounter enemy fighters they may take more losses than they would otherwise do. You have to decide if it is worth having them loose dogfight ability to gain lethality when they hit.

Hey Sergio <S>

Not being an expert on running the Luftwaffe and probably not much further along than you are I can recommend some things. First off IMHO you might do some research on the various Luftwaffe Airframes, what they could do and how they fared during the Air War.

You have a lot of options to work with. I would strongly recommend that you build a mixed intercept force each time you go up against the Allied Daylight forces. You need to select some groups to equip with Bomber Buster gear and some to be configured to deal with escorts. If you load out all your AC for Bombers then any that get bounced by Allied Escorts are going to get hammered hard. If you dont equip any for Bomber Shredding then you are going to get hurt by both Bombers and Escorts and not do a lot of damage to the Bombers.

Unfortunately you can only control so much of your intercept. You can set your AC to go after the Bombers but if they encounter Escorts then that is what they are going to engage with. So you need to work at how you organize your intercepts with respect to the approaching strike forces. One word of caution... Multi Engine Interceptors agains Daylight Strategic Forces = High Losses. A big part of air combat in this game is the comparing of Manurverability of the AC engaged. The one on the low end of the Manuverabilty value usually ends up on the high end of the loss column. For this reason over time I would recommend you eliminate you multi-engine interceptors for Daylight action and replace them with better single engine AC. I would concentrate on a few models as well. You have to make your decision very early so that you can afford the lag between retooling you factories when you have the advantage and producing the better AC when that begins to shift in 44.

Anyways, there are many others here that can give you much better and specific advice on running the Luftwaffe than I can.

Later,
KayBay
