I thought I'd attempt to play the single player MMCC3 campaign on cross of Iron as i like the idea of having a strategic map in the game. I've managed to get the multiplayer campaign going (sort of) but when i open the single player MMCC3 exe i don't know how to start a battle. I can get the server screen/map up as pictured on page 14 of the MMCCIII pdf but theres no tcp address part showing. I can scroll around the map and select the stars and crosses but theres no attack sector window anywhere (same as the pic), so how do i do it ? I've tried double clicking on the stars but nothing happens.
I have many other questions regarding this app
How can get back to the "choose side & name screen" to start again ?
What does timeout in the options screen do ?
Can i play operation mars and bloody omaha as single player ?
Any help on these would be much appreciated but right now I'd settle for kicking off the campaign somehow. I run on vista and have set all executables to run as administrator.

1. run the server.... This should tell you which port

2. Run the single player client... Input the port

3. Timeout when trying to contact server...... Leave at default

4. Op mars and BO - yes but only if you create your own server

Hey i really appreciate the quick reply but i don't understand "run the server/ client " whatever, I'm not sure which is which. I need clear instructions when it comes to programs. I'll tell you what I'm doing and it would be great if you could tell me where I'm going wrong.
I open start menu/programs/CC Cross of Iron, and then open the MMCC3 single player server and that brings up the screen, Pretty much the instructions in the manual. Just below the map theres a line that says "server TCP port : 49176", What do i do from there ?
thanks again

oh, OK

MMCC# was designed to be a multiplayer app.

But a single player version is thrown in... but requires a bit more work.

using windows explorer navigate to

C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Server\Server.exe

double click on server

see the port number.

Now run MMCC3 from the menu

that should work

sorry its not working. If i attempt to open MC3 from the game menu and use the port number from the single player server i get a message saying "failed to open connection to server, java.net no route to host exception, operation timed out. with about 10 lines below that.

i run vista, as mentioned in my first post. i have noticed the message on the game menu saying XP only but i managed to get battles working fine on the multiplayer server when i install the mod swap file, so i figured (and possibly quite wrongly) that i could get the singleplayer campaign running fine too.

has "server.exe" been allowed through your firewall?

also try running in compatibility mode as well as as you have administrator.

the only other thing i can think of is to run the java installer (in compatibility and as administrator)

C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Support\msjavwu.exe

you may get incompatibilty messages but you can ignore them

No luck with anything on either count so far. I can get mars op working fine through multiplayer but the 41 campaign has no battlegroups (just russian flags everywhere) and so far i cant even start single player. Any idea on how i would change sides or my name if i wanted to. Everytime i open the server i go straght to the port screen.

Hello tried a fresh reinstall and set every exe i could find to administrator and finally got it working. Played my first battle as axis this morning and easily won with 500 + spending points and a full compliment.
Thanks again for the prompt support, much appreciated.
