I decided to fire up DW with ROTS to see if I can get myself into it enough to buy the new expansion. When I go into the game, it takes nearly 2.5 minutes to even get to the main menu. It goes through all the loading stuff. Just curious with the new expansion, any better load time? My machine (in sig) is no longer state of the art, but still pretty decent, I hope:)

That still takes about 2.5 minutes -- to get to the main game menu.

... but graphics in game use lazy loading and multi-core now -- so there is big improvement in game in terms of responsiveness and combat.

Yes Distant Worlds has always taken a long time to load initially for me too.� I'm talking about the launcher bit after you click play in the launcher and it goes through "fueling Pirate Ships", "Feeding Giant Kaltors" etc.� Probably a couple of mintues I would guess.� However, its not that big of a deal, you only have to start the game once to play it for hours.

Loading and saving a game should take little time at all though, it saves pretty quick and I'm fine with having the autosave set for 10 minutes.

For those of you like me who noticed those interminable save games --- much improved -- even in late game.� Memory use is far more stabilized in late game as well --- leaks have been plugged.
