.Net 4.0 should be fine, so I don't think that's the problem.

If you install only the original Distant Worlds, does that run ok? How about then upgrading to ROTS? Does that also run ok?

When running Legends, does the following file exist:
C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds\1.7.0.0\DW_CrashDump.txt

---or if you have the latest patch---

C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Code Force Limited\Distant Worlds\1.7.0.6\DW_CrashDump.txt

If the above crash dump file exists, please post its contents here.

I'll have to report back about this later today when I uninstall and reinstall...

Thanks Elliot ... but there was no crash dump file. And as this is an xp machine I did a manual search and found nothing.

.Net 4.0 is not fine. You must have 3.5 installed to make this game work.

Reinstalled with the 3.5 install and it's working.
