I notice that requests for opponents here get taken pretty quickly. There are a few challenges outstanding on the server, so if you're after an opponent perhaps look there? With the changes that Matrix/Slitherine have made to cheat detection on the server, perhaps that's a better option than PBEM anyway.

I don't think its so much as finding an opponent here as it is more to find a more open, friendly person who enjoys communication with their playing partner. That's at least what I look for in finding a game instead of some just 'random' encounter with a 'stranger'.
