Will FPG support Drop Box play?

Good Hunting.

I had a look at how things are and couldn't find a way. I think the program would need an option to set the save file location.

I set up an inbox and outbox in my dropbox folder but I think I need to change those names to something else. We should be able to drag and drop the .pbm file from the Saved folder in the game to the dropbox folder.

Yeah drag and drop would work almost as fast.

How are you for time over this next week?

I have to be in Houston the week of the 14th and won't get home until the 19th.

What do you think?

Good Hunting.

I'm fine next week starting Monday night. You have access to my j2dOstfront folder or we can use another.

For those of you that are curious, MR and I have used dropbox for game files for a long time. You set up a free dropbox account, invite a friend to have access to the folder, setup dropbox to start when your computer starts and display tray icon. I take the .pbm file from the Saved folder and drag and drop it to the dropbox folder on my computer. MR then gets a popup above his tray icon that a file has been added. He opens the folder by right clicking the tray icon and selecting. Even though it is on my computer he can copy the file to his Saved folder and play the turn. Doing it this way is as fast as a LAN or TCP/IP game without the hassle.

If the game is set up to utilize it there can be an option where it can be setup to send the files to the Drop Box (DB) automatically.

Good Hunting.

You can't do it automatically.

At the current time you must have Drop Box loaded onto your computer to utilize it.

1) Download the Drop Box program. It's free.

2) Create a folder in there with whatever name you like. FP PBEM for example.

3) Email your opponent and make sure he has Drop Box on his computer as well. If he doesn't he needs to load it. After you both have the program invite him to share the folder you created. Once he has access to the folder you now have a direct link to each other.

4) You can now move your PBEM game file into the Drop Box folder you created and he can take it out within seconds of your putting it in there. No emails, no hassles.

If you have any more questions just ask.

Good Hunting.
