Ahem. The Allies receive sub chasers as reinforcements in the eastern USA. Can anybody tell me how I get them to the west coast? Their range is too small to reach Balboa. I am sending a AK to the Eastern USA to form a convoy. Any other suggestions. These SC's should appear in L.A.

Off-map movement to another off-map base doesn't use fuel (with a few, minor quibbles and tweaks for a few where the transit box isn't right offshore.) Just ignore the red typeface. They'll make Balboa just fine., I usually then send them up to SD, or put them with a fuel-rich something and send them to Pearl.

You can also use this no-fuel code to run convoys of xAKLs between EC and CT. They leave redded out and arrive redded out.

Oh. I am not too sure of that!! I sent my Brit CV's to Capetown from Colombo to use the yard there and the whole TF ran out of fuel and was slowly destroying itself. The system damage was approaching 50 with another 9 days to travel. I had to restart the game to just before I ordered them to the Cape. So I am amazed you got away with what you did. Perhaps from one Off map local to another might work. I'll try it but I need these SC's I am starved for escorts.

Colombo is on-map. TFs always use fuel on-map until they're at zero when they change to different game code and begin accumulating damage at a high rate. I was speaking of off-map to off-map. EC to Balboa qualifies. So does EC to CT.

One mission that is effective for those SC's is once they get to SD .. BTW they run out of fuel one hex short ....is to run them on patrol SD -> SF -> Astoria .. or whatever WC patrol you can think of ... they can't make it to PH .. but they can make it to Seattle .. Alaska etc ... Just a thought ..

if you need to move short-range SC/PC/AM types over long distances on-map, set them up in a TF w/ a long-range xAK. they will automatically glom fuel as needed from the xAK, you don't need to use an AO. use cruise-speed to minimize damage-accrual to the ships.

just t'other day, i had a TKTF returning to LA from Oz, they were gonna run out of fuel. so i made a 2-xAK TranTF at SF, & set it to meet/refuel the TKs. it worked like a charm, fortunately no enemy subs got in the way.
