The scenario briefing for Shamal says...

Mission

Destroy all targets on list within 24 hours at minimal loss.

Target List (marked on map):

Target: Al Taqaddum C-7 Chemical Production Facility (23 medium structures)
Target: H2 Air Base: 2 Runways
Target: H3 Air Base: 6 Hardened Shelters, 16 Ammo Revetments, 1 Hardened Ammo Bunker

I cannot find any markings on the map for these targets. In fact they don't seem to correspond to any of the many installations that I can see. How am I suppose to find them?

Hi Banquet,
hit the " Start/Resume" button and you should see the targets like in the attached jpeg.
You have to search thru those red targets to find the ones that you are to destroy.
I don't see any specific markings either.

Hi BKLANDIN

Thanks for replying. I can't see anything marked A1, H2 or H3. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough. It would be nice if they were marked somehow to differentiate them from the myriad other targets.

Yeah. I am looking. When I find them I'll let you know. One clue is "Your forces should only operate over south-western Iraq. No navigation zones have been set for Kuwait , eastern and northern Iraq including Bagdad."

That's exactly the "blob" of enemy land facilities I was talking about in another thread. It's almost impossible to identify distinct facilities when they are not grouped together in some way.

That target is in that group to the north of the SA-2 site in the west or in South West Iraq as stated in the briefing.

One fun possibility from this would be, if time\provisions exist for recon to locate the target. In this case we already know that the target exists because the brief - in the old days (the warning order)-
tells us where to look.

Thanks, BKLANDIN, for taking the time to find them. I think you're right that the designation 'target' must signify these are our objective. They do need to be better marked up than this!

You are welcome Banquet. This game has so much, but I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg. The possibilities are...

this is realistic having to actually id the targets. In real life the enemy doesn't put red flags on the targets you want to hit.

No, but airbases and major installations are shown on maps and those names would be used in a briefing.

All the scenario briefing says is 'bomb airbase H2' leaving you to look through a million red markers until you find one that says 'target' (it's not even marked H2 as claimed in the briefing)

It's like a theatre commander being told to bomb an airbase but not being told which one, just that it's referred to as H2, and then having to spend hours pouring over a map to find H2, only find there isn't anything labelled H2 on the map. It just wouldn't happen.

Hey guys,

We'll look at a better way of doing this.

In the meantime I'll drop a few reference points and name them.
