Hi all, so here is my attempt at a solo game aar. I will appreciate any helpful feedback at anytime on setup, strategy, just about anything really.
Thanks.

So here goes. I choose the global war scenario, with all the optionals except Construction engs, unlimited breakdown, carpet bombing, variable carrier plane searching, defensive shore bombardment, FIF, and break the Nazi-soviet pact.
I choose not to request any lend-lease planes at this time.

Next shot shows the US. entry draws.

As the first phase continues, Japan in the naval phase picks up 4 land units and moves them to southern and central china. In this same phase Graziani boards a transport and heads to North Africa. What could the Italians be up to down there? :)
As the phase moves along Japan sends out 3 bombers to ground strike some Chinese land units but none of the bombs hit anything. Meanwhile in Poland german bombers have much better luck as they disorganize both units in Lodz and both units in Warsaw!!!!

In the german movement phase a div walks over danzig and forces the convoys to rebase to England, but captures the destroyer flotilla!!!! Der Furher was very pleased. German troops launch 3 land attacks. All 3 go off with great success, lucklily they had high odds cause they rolled 4's on two of the attacks.

And so the first impulse ended. The second impulse started with the CW and France declaring war on Germany but they rolled a 10 on US entry and got no chits. Roosevelt must have been playing golf or something lol.
The next step was the calling out of the reserves.
The turn continues with france, the US and Russia choosing a combined. China took a land and the CW choose a naval. Let the fun begin.....

Thanks Keith! I think one thing some of the AARs have glossed over a bit so far, but is very intriguing for brand new players, is the US Entry system. I think if you could just type out the US Entry Option choice(s) each turn, with the Entry/Tension levels, that would be pretty interesting for people. You wouldn't have to make this screenshot for it; a short sentence or two would suffice. The screenshots get to be a bit of work I suspect.

Even the phrase "The US cares" which I have seen several times in various AARs, might be mysterious to some. This one means the Axis (generally), or at times the Allies, made a decision that resulted in a die roll for the US to add a numerical chit to either of their entry pools. Some of these can only happen once in a game, such as a specific Declaration of War; others can happen every time an event occurs, such as when Japan takes a city in China.

Have fun!

Thanks for the feedback. And I do tend to forget that not everyone playing this game has played the tabletop version. I will try to be more clear in my terminology :)

During her naval phase the CW moved carrier fleets into the North sea and the Western Med. And also lots of cruisers out to protect convoys in Faroes Gap, The North Atlantic, US east coast, the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
The French also moved a fleet out into the western med.

USSR decides to be aggressive and occupies Eastern Poland and the Baltic States. The US entry loses 2 chits, setting them back considerably!!

Impulse 3 of the first turn starts with a great weather roll for the Axis. Germany declares war on Denmark. The US receives no entry chit for this action.

Denmark falls and its navy is forced to rebase to Greenland, with the exception of one convoy which was captured. And on the eastern front Lodz is overwhelmed and falls with no losses for Germany.
Italy moves another unit to North Africa. Building up a sizeable force there.

CW moves more escorts out to protect the convoy lines. France moves a transport with a 3 cruiser escort to the Eastern Med. to pick up a French land unit in Syria.
With the start of a new impulse the weather turns to rain in the artic and the north temperate.
I've put up a good shot here of a air rebase and how you can see all the units able to rebase.

With the weather turning to rain Germany decides upon a combined and decided to move out some subs. They move to the Faroes Gap in hopes and taking out some convoys.

The German U-Boats decide to initiate combat here. After 2 rounds of combat in which the allies were surprised in each round, the outcome was 5 dead convoys and 3 aborted. No damage to the U-boats since they were able to select only the 0 box with just convoys. The U-boats then headed back to Kiel for a few brews. The moral of the story is put some escorts in the zero box.,

Japan lands more troops to southern China. And being ordered to attack in the rain, Warsaw finally falls to the Axis.

As a newbee of WIF (computer version anyway) can I in the sub example chosen seabox 3 just to check the odds and then revert back to a more smart seabox zero attack? Or is it trial and error from other playthrues? Like your AAR keep it up. Worried about some kinks you and the other AAR guys how found with tracing and saving production and oil, but I guess the devs monitoring your AAR´s to clarify or/and correct any needed.
cheers

The allies try to pass to end the turn on a 3 or less, they fail on a roll of 7. The next impulse starts off with a weather roll of a 10.!!!

To answer your question Swedewolf, I think you want to be in the highest box you can be as subs so you have a better chance of finding the enemy ships and therefore being able to attack them.

I got that, higher seabox better search. But I refere to this comment "No damage to the U-boats since they were able to select only the 0 box with just convoys." If I in this instant shoose the seabox where escort where, just to see if I could have done some dmg there and if odds was against me shoose the safe attack at box zero. I the board game you could do the math by hand but can the computer help you find the best action so to speak?

Germany begins to move troops back west, by rail and land movement. The turn fails to end as a 9 is rolled. The Allies try to end the turn again by passing and again they fail on a roll of 8 when they needed a 7 or less!! Next impulse begins with a weather roll of an 8 adjusted up to a 10. Mostly storms in all the current areas of the war.
I've also posted a shot here of the relations screen, its show who is at war with who.
