Hi all,

Returning to this game after nearly 2 years. Re-reading the manual, etc.

But I fired up a BabesliteA game just to scratch the itch and see how much I remembered.

I observed something odd, so I did a number of re-starts just to see if I was miss-reading something. At PH, I see combat results showing anywhere from roughly 90-150 Cats that are damaged from the attacks. But when I look at the set up, and I check how many Cats are reported at PH, the total is exactly 64. I have checked this each time and I must be miss-remebering something very fundamental here.

Are there additional Cats in non-squadron inventory, or i each damage event counted separately, even if it is to the same aircraft (which dimly seems to energize a light bulb over my head)?

Ah.

So Cpl. Walleye with his glasses broken during the raid and suffering from double vision due to the compression waves?

Even so, since I am reading a report it occurs to me that some staffer would say - wow, that number is over two times the number of that AC we had....

just sayin.....

I must say that the carnage at PH seems reliably heavier that I recall from the past. The BBs really get pasted now. I remember one time where I only lost 1 BB to the raid and all rest were is pretty darn good shape and 2 sortied right after the raid.

I had, from memory, over 160 Cats damaged in a PH raid. I'm pretty sure it's the actual number of pieces of ordnance hitting a plane, so multiple hits per.

The combat report is common to both sides and represents the first assessment of results. As that "staffer" you have the opportunity to check the actual losses but the Japanese staffer does not, so I think it works quite well.

As a general rule:

Bombardments and land combats over state results, air battles under state them, and sea combats are accurate at the time but don't reflect subsequent damage control efforts.

I have counted the planes destroyed by AAA and A2A during a turn and then compared to the Intel screen. They never match up. FOW. Got to love it. How often have you sunk the same ship 4 or more times? I lost track....GP
