Well, if you mod it it won' be the standard sandbox game.

You can of course create a mod with minimal changes to the base game that only add a few events. Don't mess with the normal game files, do any changes in a mod. The Ancient Galaxy is a heavily modded setup, but it is all done with the supplied mod support. That is taking it far, and you can do as little as a minor tweak to one racial setting or one technology.

Thx for the answer. But I meant if you can add new events for the random map. If yes then how?

You can add individual events ingame via the editor. Double click an object in editor mode and there will be an 'Add Event' button at the bottom of the popup, giving you an option to add either a non-specific or a target-specific event. The rest is pretty self-explanatory for the most part.
The 'edit galaxy' button at the bottom of the editor panel can show list of all the events you've added.

Yeah but how can I add events that will be there every time a new game on a random map starts (so other people can download them and play them on every random map).

I don't think you can.

Events are either the trigger/editor-based ones - which are stored within the savegame itself, or are part of the hardcoded settings - eg. the galactic history/RotS storyline, fortress of torak/techno nexus ruins, etc. stuff - which are (probably) wrapped within exe and completely inaccessible to modding even via hexing.

OK then I should probably make a request. Is there also a way to switch off empire contact sharing? So exploration gains in importance?
