Hi,

I bought WITE a few weeks ago and jumped right into the grand campaign. I'm on turn 57 or so and the German (AI) turn takes up to 45 minutes to complete. Is this normal?

I am using a Dell XPS 12 laptop, 8GB RAM, Core i7 chip, is that the problem?

Thanks

Yes I have had the AI average like 1-2 hours per turn so seems pretty standard as im also on a new computer.

The AI seems to do things in multiple phases.....so it sits and calculated one phase for awhile then takes action....then goes to the next phase of its thought process calculates and takes action.

An yes it seems to take it a long time to thing through what its going to do for an AI lol.

Intel 3.2 processor, 15 min/turn max., usually much faster, like less than one minute.

More patches mean more processing power needed.

You should use the AI German turn to do things like cleaning your room, doing the dishes, have a dinner...

As weather gets worse and the germans get less attack options, the AI goes faster as it has less stuff to calculate. Mud turns are resolved very quickly. Then Turn 47 (the first clear turn of 1942) comes and you can safely go to watch a movie while the German IA does his stuff. Remember to disable your computer's power-saving settings before going.

Later in the War, as the Germans go on the defensive, things get better.

Using a 2 year old HP and have never had "a go to a movie" turn. Of course, if you like the game enough then...

So, think we're telling thread poster to learn patience through Zen. Or, get a new computer.

Tested again:
Turn 47 of the 41-15 Campaign. German IA on clear turns begins to invest about 1 hour to do his stuff. Has happened me on two games in a row with the new patch.

What scenario? Alt CV is not recommended for games vs AI.

Mmmh, didn't know that. I actually felt the IA slightly more competent on Alt CV.

I ran two games against the German IA on 1.08.04. First one using default CV, second one using Better CV Approximation. Both hit Limp Mode on the first clear turn of '42 (wich is Turn 47 using Historical Weather). Both times I customized the scenario before starting, but I don't think it's related as the customizations where different (only changed basic settings like production usage, IA behaviour or CV display, not on-map units or TOEs) and the IA went turtle at the same turn.
