In an ongoing pbem game I took Minsk 04Jul and placed units on the rail line, planning to move my FSB there on my next turn. On my opponents turn he attacked one of the unit and forced a retreat (although he did not move into the vacated hex). I looked to move my FSB on my 08JUL turn and Minsk wasn't an option (see attached). At this point I have decided to wait another turn to be able to move to Minsk (I hope). Fuel situation is critical. Should I have moved the FSB to one of the offered cities instead of delaying for Minsk?

I am sure its because a neighboring hex is enemy-contolled.

Vilnius is a good spot.

I think your right, it makes sense. Haven't found anything in the manual yet. And I should have moved the FSB to Vilnius. Now comes the July mud. Uhg!

Hi baloo,

It's because it was taken by the Soviets during their turn.

General Wagner (who is in charge of depots and truck columns) wouldn't authorise Minsk as an FSB site given it's current precarious situation. Wait a turn and it should be O.K provided the Soviets don't retake it during their turn.

Cheers,
Cameron

Thanks lancer, I agree totally with the (*&^$%QW)jerk Wagner not AUTHORISING Minsk due to its precarious position!
However, I have had a unit occupy Minsk without retreating in both this and the previous turn. I was forced to retreat from an attack on a unit ON the rail line just SW of the city during the Soviet turn, although he did not occupy that hex. I assume the Soviet Tank Div used it's ZOC from the adjacent hex to block the rail line, although it was not occupied. I could not find anything in the manual about that (but reading it as I go along is likely not the best bet).
Drakken put it best...Vilnius is a good spot!

Hi baloo,

Cutting the rail link with a ZOC would have the same effect.

An FSB needs to pass a rail connection test back to the Main depot in order to be considered a valid location.

Cheers,
Cameron
