I found this in my mailbox today and have verified it is true:
The Softer Side of Sears
=========================

I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is
treating its reservist employees who are called up?

By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available,
but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose
benefits as a result of being called up.

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and
maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus
programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two
years. Their normal period of 30 days was beyond the legal
requirement. Sears went from 30 days to two years.

I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should
be recognized for its contribution.

I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to
tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive
reinforcement it well deserves.

from The Mountain:
My flight instructor, Julius Alexander, forwarded me the above.
I thought it was another one of those internet hoaxes so I
checked it. It's true.

In a world of corporate greed, perhaps Sears' example can teach
us all how to fly.

The following link explains things better and has a link that
lists other employers that go beyond the legal requirement:

Thank you for inviting MountainWings in your mailbox.
See you tomorrow.

Be my guest Les. I'd hang around and chat, but I need some hardware for a job I'm doing Monday morning. Thought I'd head over to Sears and do some shopping...even if it is 15 miles out of my way. :)

I saw a UPS rep on Fox News the other week saying they do the same as well. I certainly feel better knowing there are some patriotic companies. (And yes, I know the theory that patriotism is "in" right now so they're just doing it to please the market, yaddayadda--can it.)

We all know there are leaders, followers, and then there is the silent that just do the right thing.

And we can usually see people for what they truely are as well.

I have not been pro war nor pro peace.

I have not been yattering that the war is for oil, nor am I silly enough to believe this is just to remove Saddam.

It is a good deal more than all that.

I hope in the end, the Iraqi people get something out of the whole deal. Or it will have all been for nothing.
