I have fighters assigned as an escort on a strike mission. The will not launch with the rest of the strike group, I believe because the fighters loadout is AAW with CAP "range" of 200 nm and so the computer thinks they don't have enough fuel/range for the strike. But it seems like they would have the range if just allowed to launch. I know I could launch then manually but it would be nice if the game engine allowed them to launch as an escort as part of the strike group.

Took a look The distance from the base to the targets is 750nm while the max strike range is set to 450nm.

All patrol-type profiles are translated to cruise range for strike missions, so no problem.

Version 1.11 adds more user feedback and will tell you in the message log when a strike attempts to launch, and the reasons it fails to do so (if any).

I've had this problem when wanting to add fighter escorts to strikes. Instead of this i've opted to just have a fighter patrol near the target area instead (TARCAP) but having fighter escorts for a strike is much better. I would like to see 2 different profiles for A/A loadouts, one which is what we have now, a standard AAW patrol where the AC can fly out so far and remain there for so long, and another profile which would be just like a profile for an air to ground loadout. For example an AGM-88B HARM loadout gives a 500nm strike radius, so for a fighter, it could have an escort radius for however far it can fly out to before bingo.

It doesnt. When i tried assigning fighter escorts to a strike mission, it said they wont take off when the mission starts (as i set a time for it to start) due to the CAP radius being only 150nm which is in their loadout profile, and the targets for the strike were over 300nm away. Thing is the fighters arent going to do a CAP, they're to be used as escorts, so that profile has no relation to do with escorting.

It works just fine in my tests, target is 400nm away.

Maybe you should post a save and/or screenshot

Here's an example, target is ~690nm miles away.

The 150nm CAP assumption is wrong, but there could be an issue with your mission parameters, target, a db version, loadout, blah, blah, blah, too many variables...everbody, post a save!
