Just curious how Allied players use these, and if their mechanics are any different than standard LCU mechanics. For example, I used the raiders to "raid" in one of my PBEMs and the raiders died a horrible death. What is more, the raiders did no "raiding" to speak of. It seems the game, at least on the surface, just treats them as an attempted amphibious landing.

So are people actually using these as raiders? If so, under what conditions and what kind of results should I "expect?" Or are should I just be treating these as regular LCUs with a fancy name?

Pretty much this, with the normal provisos on leadership, morale, training, etc. There's no sabotage attack in the game, any more than there's a (needed) Probe attack. Wish there were, but . . .

They have not got much in the way of staying power. I use them to seize empty dot bases using FT or small landing craft.

You could actually accomplish a 'probe' attack by doing a bombardment if you just want to see what your opponent has in the hex.

Yup, kinda like the Japanese company sized units.
