I remember threads in old Best Ofs the advice to disband Soviet Motorized divisions. I think the reasoning was their low combat value and their consumption trucks, which will be a scarce resource in 1942. I do not know if this is one persons option or a consensus.

The Soviets start the war with insufficient combat units, many of the at start units have the best experience, and some motorized units have cv of 3 to 6. Given the value of APs, is the cost of disbanding the good motorized units really justified? The ones that are at 25% TOE and 1 cv may be another matter when flush with AP points.

That was one persons opinion although obviously some will agree.

Fact is around turn 6, the motor divisions start to "upgrade" to rifle divisions anyways. So the trucks end up returned to the motor pool eventually. Why spend APs to disband them?

6 turns of movement may burn some trucks. AP-wise I'd say to disband them if you think they are about to be encircled.

If you fear loosing them, you can also keep them in the rear to built fortifications.

They are also good in reserve mode behind the front.

If you disband them, you also loose the rifle division the unit convert too.
