Have 2 questions regarding mines
1 an amphibious tf with some dms will not be affected by minefileds?
2 when entering a minefield the enemy appears with mtlb or pts sinking dms . What can of ship might go with them a dd? Tryed wih sc and pb and did not work

Everything is subject to die rolls, meaning the DMS will normally sweep in front of the amphib forces but there is a chance it will not get all the mines or might even hit a mine itself. It helps if the minefield has already been detected before the amphib forces go in, so send in DMS ahead of the amphibs but still keep two or more AMs in the Amphib TF.

There are no guarantees that you will intercept the PTs, but you need a SCTF of DDs to guard the Amphib TF.

If the hex is defended with naval defense batteries you can forget about clearing any mines in advance. I'm talking Singapore or Corregidor (Bataan). If you insist on an amphibious landing in such a place just grip it and rip it.

OK, what I've started doing in coastal bases defended by mines and CD guns (I'm talking 6" and under, going against 14-16" guns is just suicide) is to put my DMS's in the amphibious TF. In my experience they will sweep first and will be 'defended' by the larger vessels in the TF (BB's/CA's). I would think its a good idea to have the mine fields detected first as this is the only way I've done it to date.

Mines can only be loaded in sufficiently large ports, size 9+ is good in all cases, lower sizes might require navsupport to be able to load mines. As long as port size is ok, and there is enough mines in the pool, and the pool is not stockpiled then Minelaying TF should charge no problem.

Load mines on mainland, then escort your CM/CMc-s to Marianas to lay, refuelling them on the way. And route ACMs there too to disband in port and nurture the fields, one per 150 mines placed.

All mines will load at ports of size 7 and above. Some will load at ports smaller than that, and some will load at smaller ports with NS assistance. See manual p286.
