I saw the HBO concert from January 18, and Mick and the rest of the Rolling Stones gave an outstanding show. You younger guys can make fun all you want, but if you haven't seen them perform, you are missing what is still the greatest rock n' roll band in the world.

I have lots of the performances from the 60's downloaded

They have lost alot...and havnt put out any good music since the mid 70's....but oh well the strength of their early carrer carries them into rock band immortality

Nicely said. Even though I wasnt even around back then! I only shudder to think what would have become of the Beatles had Lennon lived. I am not saying I think he ought to have been murdered like he was. Incedentely, Lennon's death prevented the Beatles from ever regrouping and carrying on like the "Rolling Bones" and releasing bad album after bad album. Then again thats just my 5 cents on the modern pop culture.

Some things change some things don't.

I liked the stones once, but that was then this is now. I don't really listen to them anymore. Well at least I could not list 5 "new" songs they have done recently.

But age doesn't mean "its time to quit".

I am a big Rush fan. For a bit there they were classic rock, then they mellowed out a bit, then they got more social concious in their lyrics, they are currently closer to classic rock now.
Through it all though, they remain entirely superior in their sound.

Today's modern younguns bands don't have even a fraction of the sound quality of the older bands.
But then again, a lot of the new bands are not even trying to be any good in some cases.

And of course, I have to ask the question, is it possible for rap to even sound good in the first place? :)

Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.
