There're a lot of OOBs currently, so many, than unless you spent a good amount of the budget on them, you will take a long time to research them, however, in my latest game I found than the game is critically lacking some very important OOBs.

* Motorized AT guns: since we can have motorized arty, why not AT guns? they need to move a lot faster since they will be defending the frontline from tanks, which normally are faster than infantry.
* Mechanized Assault brigades should let you select to use mechanized arty instead of regular arty, since the whole point of the OOB is having hard hitting units.
* There should be an OOB of "armored assault brigade" which could have light/medium/heavy tanks along with mechanized arty.
* There should be an OOB of Mgs with either arty or AT guns, which could be on foot, motorized or mechanized with APCs.

The one than its more urgently needed its the Motorized AT guns, the other ones are just suggestions.

I think I would make more use of them if I was allowed to reorganize from a related OOB to others.

Infantry OOB to Mechanized, etc.

You can do that now, but it's very restricted.

Isn't that in the game already?

Assault Guns and Tank Destroyers?

or do you mean AT Guns towed by Motorized trucks or mechanized APCs? I assumed they were towed. You can't haul them very far by hand. You would need horses or other beasts.

I suppose in my head, I didn't think the infantry were marching 250km each hex either--not with industrial age equipment. The transportation was simply less organized than the more specific OOB provided. Certainly those Operational Logistics Points aren't covering 5,000km back and forth each turn on foot.

If not, perhaps a legit need in a constrained resource planet, but I would almost always use the self-propelled versions instead of towed.

The problem is, you can use Arty with horses or arty with trucks, if you use trucks they cost more metal and IP but move a lot farther, but with AT guns you dont have that option, you can only use them with horses (hypothetically)

Assault Guns (defense against infantry?) and Tank Destroyers (defense against tanks?) are self-propelled AT guns.

Both have reduced Soft Offensive Attack and Hard Offensive Attack values.

See the (IRL) Sturmgeschütz III as an example.

Coupling guns with transport trucks makes a huge difference in mobility within the game, which you can see if you motorize your artillery. If there's no OOB with motorized anti-tank guns, that's a surprising omission. There's many reasons why motorized anti-tank might be preferable to self-propelled under some circumstances - it's cheaper, entrenches better, suffers less penalties in terrain, counts as a soft target rather than hard which helps make it more cost-effective versus tanks with high-velocity guns, and if you need the trucks somewhere else, you can take them out, then add them back again once needed.

Don't forget that you already can raise battlegroups with any combination of your liking for a mere 15% combat penalty. So you can build any monstrosity you can imagine!

I made the same mistake. Upgrade can already do that, if you first downgrade to Light Infantry. But some upgrade options are bugged, like the Light Infantry -> MG Infantry one was.

On the OP:
I do not think we need more OOB's. We need a better way to handle OOB's. I think some base units with togleable options would fit best:
