Well I thought that I would post this to see what the general purchasing public think of the new game......well at least those that now have it.

I know Bilbow got it and said the interface was definitely familiar but the new buttons, etc and HQ rules will take some getting used to. Bill, are you out there to give us first hand impressions?

Bit unfair to ask so soon..., all you'll get is hype. Why not give them a week to
actually get familiar with how it works before asking for impressions. I would doubt
even those that bought it this morning are much past the "wow, this looks great" and
"how the devil do you make it do that" stage yet.

I'm rather disappointed. I thought people were going to be doing those funny impressions that always crack me up.

Well for me, it will take a few MONTHs, minimum for me to even begin forming an opinion. I fully expect the OOB to be a good one, but it is post-OOB that does it for me. What will we think of this game by next Christmas? That's the key.

I think the real key is what ‘fresh’ customers think about WitP, those who didn’t participate in forum polemics during development stage and never played UV. Of course they also need a couple of weeks or so to figure out what is what.

Well I doubt many of those will even exist until some time after this coming Christmas....when some well meaning girlfriend's/spouses by them a copy as a gift they may think will go over well.... Most of those types have no idea, yet, that WitP even exists....

Wargaming is not that part of the computer games world where people buy products in by-the-way style… ohh! This one must be nice monster game! I take it. If Matrix games will manage everything properly, right people will soon get the right info and we will see ‘fresh’ customers on these forums within a month. This is, of course, my subjective opinion.

And quite a number of forum frequenters that will dissappear for a while.
Has Xargun been on line for more than 5 minutes since yesterday?

I used to get that ... then I would remind her how much her online games cost *me* and the fact that I had to buy myself another computer so *I* could use my own computer since she had taken over my other computer.

Conversation generally ended there.

Actually it only took about 20-25 minutes for my Slow computer to run the historic turn and believe me it was horrible.. All I sunk at PH was a PT boat - not a single torpedo used - all bombs. Now I hit like 5 BB with 6+ bombs but with FOW on I probably didn't hurt em. BUT, my saving grace was the manual stating that with FOW on you may not know about ships sinking for up to 60 days from when they sunk - which is a good thing and I hope I sunk at least 1 BB.

But were those bomb hits by the 800's? If they were then you will probbaly sink a few. A tip for beginners is dont mess with the KB either (as in altitudes etc of the planes) as you get the best results leaving them as they are

I don't know, man. With WitP being sold only through Matrix direct, I doubt that you'll get many of those. Women who know nothing about wargaming are not likely to scroll through Matrix's website. Those whose husbands put it on a list for gift suggestions are another story...

Hmmm...guys, maybe we all need to pitch in and help the first WitP customer upgrade his system...

(That being said, my Athlon 2500+ takes about twenty minutes to run a UV turn - because I like watching all the information!)

Xargon, did you dive right into the major campaign? And what was it like when you first got to hold 5 copies in your hands? Christmas in June? Butterflies?
