I am playing using version 1.21 and I am up to 4 March 1944.

I am running into a number of problems:

1. I have a computer controlled cargo task force being formed in San Francisco that I can't get rid of because it keeps reforming on the next turn.

2. I also had two human controlled cargo task forces that I formed because I wanted to move a total of 40 cargo ships to Pearl Harbor but after resolving one turn the task forces I created were gone and did not sail.

Will someone PLEASE tell me what I can do to get these task forces working okay?

I do not have ANY area on computer control NOR do I have bases set to auto supply. I did not have this problem until the end of February 1944 and the beginning of 1944.

Will someone there PLEASE answer me? I've been playing this game since September 2004 and now to have this happen and be ignored when I ask for help is very very frustrating.

Some brief notes until someone with some heavy artillery makes an appearance.

1. The problem most likely is the computer control. DO NOT computer control anything. It sounds a bit like you were trying to load a unit which was too large for that fleet.

2. You say you have no computer control, and when you say that it seems to me that you mean you have no region under computer control (and if not check for that too). If I were you I would go through every single base you have and see that none of the bases are under computer control (lower left corner). You may never had made them that way, but they can be mistakenly toggled.

1. I stated above that I do not have ANY area on computer control and also the task forces I was trying to create myself to send to Pearl harbor were TWO 20-ship AK groups which is well under the max limit.

2. I already checked that NO REGION and NO BASE is under computer control.

No matter what I do I can NO LONGER create ANY cargo task forces from the 386 AK ships I have in San Francisco. This problem just popped up in the last few turns and now I can't do anything.

I tried creating the two 20-ship AK task forces and then setting them to CS control hoping they'd leave port and then I could change them to human control but after resolving the turn those two groups were gone and the only one remaining is the one that the damn computer created on it's own.

In case the suggestions from Charles_22 don't help try to upgrade to 1.40. I know it's a kind of standard answer as soon as you have a problem with software but it might help and it's the answer you're gonna get from any computer support anyway.
Nobody likes to spend time looking for a fault when it turns out that it was fixed in a later revision already.

I DOWNGRADED from 1.4 when I didn't like all the changes they put in to cater to the Jap fanboys ... the highest version I will upgrade to will be 1.3 where at least level bombing by allied planes will still be effective.

This has to have happened to someone else before and I would like to know how they resolved it. I have been playing this game since September and suddenly everything is completely hosed.

It might be worth it to try 1.40 for a turn or turn 2 to see if it makes a difference. Maybe you can go back to 1.21 again afterwards if it works.
I've only played the AI and haven't gotten any further than June 42 so I've no experience of anything similar (never had 386 ships in SF sofar).

Good luck

Sounds like a bug to me all I can think of is try forming them as escort convoys I think you are allowed all unit types in those so you can at least get some AK's out

If you're not getting anywhere I can try to have a look too if you mail me the save file but I can't promise any results of course.

Dereck, have you double checked the AutoConvoy selection screen to be sure that no bases or units have been selected. You may have not done so, but you never know... maybe there's a bug that occurs when 350 or more ships appear in any base?

I copied the file to my 1.3 directory (I have different directories for 1.00, 1.21, 1.3 and 1.4 versions) and checked specifically that all bases were set to autosupply OFF. I found two or three that were on and set them off. I then specifically pressed the remove all bases button and then for Karachi and San Francisco did the same thing so there was no ships set to auto supply.

I ran the turn and things were okay ... so far.

However, when I did the same thing with the 1.21 version the problem still persisted.

I was intending to eventually move up to 1.3 since the KamikazeCap bug in 1.21 was fixed in that one and I soon expect to run into kamikazes however this is not the way I wanted to have to do it.

Did you run the game for a while on 1.4 before reverting to 1.21? Not that you'll like this answer, but I'd be very surprised if they tested this combination; the weirdness could be a result of that.

You can't revert back from a higher version. I have separate installations for each version and simply copied the game file(s) from the 1.21 directory up to the 1.3 directory. The reverse won't work - you can't copy a save file from the 1.3 directory to 1.21 and have it still work.

I doubt it has anything to do with downgrading.
I see the same as japanese in Soerabaja. I planned to use it as a base for several freighters and escorts but stopped by now, because the AI continuosly felt like creating Computer controlled TFs that were supposed to pick-up forces in San Francisco...

Edit: Upgraded to 1.4, that is.

I had that problem in 1.3 and 1.4 for Scen 15 in Feb 1942.

I had area control on for a few areas. I clicked all on, then went back and clicked all off.

Solved problem for me in that game.

Problem:

quote:

Solution:
Remove all ships from the port, save game, then exit the game, restart game and reload save and the problem should go away. I'm playing Japan 1/43 version 1.4.x and had the same problem with a base in Java, doing the above seems to make to problem go away.
