every time i try to start the game it takes me to a game menu. then when i click on play steel panthers world at war the screen goes black like it is about to play but then it says "steel panthers: world at war has encountered a problem and needs to close. how do i have that problem not happen? please help me i am new.

Try launching the game from the "Quick Start" shortcut.

That shortcut points directly to the game's executable (mech.exe), skipping
the intro screen & videos. Try that first - helps for some of us.

Also - shut off ALL unnecessary background programs, especially your
anti-virus softare. SPWAW needs as much system memory as you got.

If none of this helps, you'll need to post your system specifications for further troubleshooting.

thanks i try. does that mean i just creat a shortcut onto my start button and then start it from there?

Go to your start menu, and find the Steel Panthers World at War program group. In that group you'll find an icon called "Steel Panthers World at War Quick Start"; this is the icon you want. Click on it first, and see if it solves your problem.

If it does or doesn't, check back again...
