48 divided by 3=16.
48 divided by 3 does not =27+11+10.

Why can't this program divide pilots into equal groups?
I've seen better math results coming from a kid in kindergarten.

How about fixing this. It's more than annoying.
It forces you to burn valuable pilots to make up the difference every time an airgroup is broken down. Jeez!

Then, when you recombine, it says you are short...you draw pilots...divide and flesh the squadrons out...recombine and it says you are short again....it's a pain.

It gets "real" old drawing not needed pilots time and time again.

Surely this could be fixed.

Only aircraft. You have to use the Get Pilot button for the rest...

I understand your confusion. It's the new math!

If you are allies, maybe. If you are IJ it is a major problem. Unless you don't mind pulling poorly-trained pilots into the unit....

I've wonder what happens to the extra pilots if you recombine? or does the group now just have lots of pilots.

I've seen where, you get a group that splits with uneven pilots. I was hesitant to draw a bunch of pilots, because I didn't want my experienced pilots to be returned to the pool when I recombined the group. So I recomined (same turn, no effect), and it reverts back to the original number of pilots = planes.

The extra pilots go to the A portion of the group.
The B/C portions are the ones that always get shorted.

By the way, it's more than a minor irritation after you've had to do it over a thousand times.

Is it possible to "push" extra pilots back to pool at all?

Nope.
IIRC, last patch to UV had the ability to slowly bleed off excess pilots in a group back to the pool.

Actually you also get pilots, but at a slow pace.
A few every turn untill the squadron is at full strenght.
