Since I just read the thread on the CL Boise I was wondering what uses those who have played the Allies have for the various classes of DD's.

The USA has multiple class of DD's - Flush Deck are good for escort and ASW as they are the only one's (as far as I know) that have a ASW rating of 4 to start. Other come up to that level during the 4/42 upgrade and then they diversify at the 10/42 upgrade. Do some of the early USA DD's work better at Surface or with CV's?

The British have a few DD's with an ASW rating of 8.

Just curious from my "esteemed" colleagues experiences.

Use DDs with 6000+ endurance (preferably 7000+) to escort your CVs. Otherwise, you might end up auto-refueling your DDs at a very inoportune time, burning ops points, not launching a strike, followed by many explitives.

I asked this same question about 2 or 3 months ago. If you use the search function u might find it still on the forum.

Basically, there aren't huge differences in DDs. I use the flush decks at very bases mostly for asw and escort, NEVER with CVs for the very reason Feinder mentioned. I use some of the DDs with really long legs for escort duty from SF to south pacific. Don't overlook the Dutch DDs either. They have good crews and used well can really help out in the fight for DEI.
