Hi all -

Some of you know that I've worked pretty hard to collect the best photos possible to create the PureSim Ballpark files that I host on my website. A couple of you also know that in an ironic twist, the absolute hardest photo to obtain has been a good photo of Petco Park.

Well, last week I went on a behind the scenes tour of Petco Park as part of the PMI professional organization that I belong to. I was hoping for a good shot of the stadium from way up in the upper deck or at least from the press box. Well, I was pretty bummed when the tour didn't go to the upper decks, and the shot I got from the press box wasn't that great. I was kinda bummed, but we (I took my wife along who is also a big Padres fan) got to see lot of cool stuff and I got to sit in the dugout which made the trip worthwile. I'll embed a shot of me in the dugout to this message.

Anyway, on the way out we were given a copy of Padres magazine. Flipping through the pages on the walk out of the ballpark I noticed a PERFECT picture of the stadium, unblemished by any text or anything. It was perfect! Well, tonight I finally got around to scanning the image and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I'll post a small version of the image in this thread as a sample, and then I'll modidy my current ballpark archive to reflect the new image.

For those of you using modern rosters and stadiums, I hope you like the new image.

Al

Here's me in the dugout at Petco...

And here's the great photo of Petco that will find it's way into my Ballpark Files. Man, I feel like I'm 12 again and I finally got that last Topps Rookie card I was searching for!

And one last one, here's a shot from right behind home plate. NOTE: There was a grounds keeper always nearby making sure we didn't step on his Bermuda Bullseye grass!!!

I have a nice shot of Petco. In fact, let me know of any parks you need or would like to upgrade. I have a lot, including many I have taken myself.

Attractive park. I can't help but feel that everything is a sister of Camden Yards when I look at the outfield. Not that it is a bad thing, but rather good. When I shot by the Astros stadium (sorry, I don't ever remember the corporate names) with my father, I saw all the girders and exterior and saw the entire architectural motif that the OPACY architect had used, just in another scheme.

All in all, I absolutely love the new parks. Variants on theme mostly, but when you have perfection in your pocket, why change?

I'd like to see a thread of nice shots of ALL the OPACY offshoots as well as the other new parks that aren't OPACY-based.
