First, I've played all 3 of the major bb sims latest releases and find that PS is the one which is the most fun! BB Mogul seems too shallow and OOTP though admirable is more like a job than a game. Anyhow. . .

I've been playing a sim which started in 1901 and has maintained the same 8 team structure up through the 1950s with real player drafts each season. The problem is that the association is absolutely flooded with good pitchers. 50% of the pitchers have a stuff rating of greater than 90. This includes the free agents. Can anyone explain to me why this phenomenon has occured? Thanks!

Luck?   Seriously... In my associations I struggle to find good pitching while there are an above average number of hitters hitting 40+ homers and batting over .350......

I suspect its because you're "filtering" the best pitchers - you're taking enough pitchers to stock 16 teams over the same time, and distilling them down to 8 teams. So, any average or below pitcher is getting left out. I'm not sure why you're not seeing a similar effect on the batting side, though.

thanks for the thoughts. . .

in looking at it further it gets a little more difficult to figure

the 50% rating for the batting attributes are Contact:44;Power 10;Eye 25; Speed 47
the 50% rating for the pitching attributes are Stuff 88;velocity 31; Control 52; Endurance 35

which wouyld seem to indicate a pitrching dominant league but . . .

only 10 pitchers had an era under 4.00 with the league leader at 3.26 while there were 20 hitters with 30 HRs and 13 300 hitters.

The only reason its really an issue is that it is hard to trade for pitchers unless you are trading other pitchers. Also, when I went to expand the association to 10 ten teams there were so many good pitchers that the expansion team I'm playing was able to draft sandy Koufax and Bob Gibson in the expansion.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game just trying to figure out the dynamics.

Watch out for the Indianapolis Arrows (of koufax and gibson) in 1960!!
